He is the biggest superstar of Bollywood with a fan following almost closed to number in the billions. The fans have given him a demi- god status. With his powerful acting talent, immense charisma and the famous dimpled smile, he has conquered hearts of viewers. His story is the great Indian story, values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing, firm belief in God, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead. Who is this personality and what is the magic he has?

He is none other than Shahrukh Khan, the King Khan of Bollywood. Often referred as””Baadshah of Bollywood””, “King Khan” and “The King of Bollywood”, Shahrukh Khan has acted in more than 70 Hindi films in genres ranging from romantic dramas to action thrillers. Shahrukh is probably one of the most talented super stars in the history of Indian Cinema. He came into bollywood at a time when things were not looking bright, he revived the industry through hard work with a vigor which can only be his trademark. Today we will take a look at the early life of Shahrukh Khan.

Father of Shahrukh Khan


He was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi, India. His father, Taj Mohammed Khan, was a freedom fighter from Peshawar, British India. Khan’s father came to New Delhi from Qissa Khawani Bazaar in Peshawar before the partition of India. Regarding his origins, he described himself on Twitter as “i am half hyderabadi (mom) half pathan(Dad)some kashmiri (grandmom)…”

Growing up in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, he attended St. Columba’s School where he was accomplished in sports, drama, and academics.

After completing school, he joined?Hansraj College and did his Bachelors in Economics. When Hansraj College celebrated its 50th anniversary, it gave away 17 shields to its alumni who had excelled in their lives and professions. He was one of them. Then he pursued a Masters Degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, however later he opted out to pursue a career in Films. He also attended the National School of Drama in Delhi.

College Days ::



After the death of his mother, Khan moved to Mumbai in 1991. He married Gauri Chibber, a Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991. They have two children.


He studied acting under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John at Delhi’s “Theatre Action Group” (TAG). His first starring role was in Lekh Tandon’s television series Dil Dariya, but due to production delays, the 1988 television series, Fauji was his television debut. He played the leading role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai in the critically acclaimed show, which earned him mass recognition.


Then he got chance to appear in Aziz Mirza’s Circus in 1989 and played a minor role in the made-for-television English-language film, In Which Annie Gives it Those Ones.?Film critics started?comparing his acting style?to that of film actor Dilip Kumar.


In 1990, Khan shifted base to Bombay (now Mumbai) and received his first film offer with Hema Malini’s directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai. And again due to production delays, his second film, Deewana, opposite Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti released first. The film became a huge success on box office and launched his career in Bollywood. He got Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his role.

In 1993, he got great appreciation for portraying negative roles, that of an obsessive lover and a murderer, respectively, in the box office hits, Darr and Baazigar Moreover, his performance in Baazigar won him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award and the he never looked back from that moment of glory and success.
