Eat less for a good memory

in: Tips and Tricks

weight-loss.jpgAccording to German researchers, eating less calorie food is very beneficial for good memory. This observation is more relevant for men and women whose age is greater than 30. In the study, researchers found that people who cut their calorie intake by approximately 30 percent performed better on standard memory tests after just three months. The study suggests that the calorie restriction may boost memory and cognition by reducing insulin resistance and inflammation, which may be linked to age-related cognitive decline.

So moral of the story is that if you are eating foods high in calories, sugar, and fat and not getting enough physical activity, you are at risk for not only becoming overweight or obese but also having poor memory. Finding out your body mass index (BMI) is the best way to learn if you are overweight or obese. Enter your height and weight into this BMI calculator to find out your BMI number and what it means for you.

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Right now, my BMI is 23 which is normal weight.
